Start an enquiry
Map the process before automating it
Document the current sequence and identify where variation, waiting or difficult handling occurs. Not every step needs automation. A useful concept should explain which operations change, how people interact with the equipment and what success will look like.
Design for product variation
Part tolerances, changeovers and replenishment have a direct effect on the automation concept. Build trials around the difficult cases rather than a single ideal sample, and agree how faults will be detected and recovered.
Make acceptance measurable
Define the test method, representative products and required documentation at the start. Handover should include an operating sequence, maintenance information and training appropriate to the installed system.
